Johnny's Bio
Johnny Wright has come to be known as one of the foremost music managers of all-time. Through hard work, creativity and a strong sense of commitment he has developed successful ventures in all areas of entertainment, from music management to film and television production.
In 1993, after getting his start with New Kids on the Block and hit dance group, Snap!, Johnny decided to relocate to Orlando, FL where he formed a relationship with Lou Pearlman and Transcon Entertainment. Two years later Johnny began managing a local vocal group that had recently been signed to Jive Records. Known as the Backstreet Boys, this vocal group blew up in Europe and soon re-crossed the Atlantic to make waves in the U.S. After a lot of hard work and perseverance on everyone’s part, BSB hit the top of the charts, their first two albums going 14X and 13X platinum, respectively.

In 1996, Johnny had the opportunity to hear another Orlando-based vocal group who called themselves *NSYNC, a name made up of the last letter of each group members first name. Immediately recognizing the group’s talent and pop potential, Johnny secured them a deal with Jive Records and started world-wide promotion. *NSYNC quickly became a household name, joining their label-mates the Backstreet Boys as one of the most successful groups in history. Their sophomore album, “No Strings Attached”, set a record for selling 1.1 million albums in one day and 2.4 million albums in the first week.
One of the first acts to open on an *NSYNC tour was a young girl who was also signed to Wright Entertainment Group and Jive Records and who soon attained her own international recognition. Johnny and his team guided Britney Spears (Jive) through the pinnacle of her career, selling more than 60 million albums worldwide by 2003.
In November of 2002, Justin Timberlake (Jive) released his solo debut, “Justified”. With his latest release “FutureSex/LoveSounds” (Jive, 2006) and tour of a similar name, Johnny and Justin managed to sustain the momentum of “Justified” and secured Justin’s role as an international superstar. His latest album, “FutureSex/LoveSounds”, has sold over seven million copies worldwide and launched a 100 date North American and European tour.
In August of 2006, Johnny and Wright Entertainment Group introduced the Jonas Brothers. Teen brothers Nicholas, Joseph and Kevin Jonas, collectively known as Jonas Brothers (Hollywood Records), have since made their place in pop music with two number one albums, sold out arena tours, a TV show and several movies. Their 2009 North American tour sold over 850,000 concert tickets within 48 hours of going on sale. Since then they have produced a 3D movie and two “Camp Rock” movies, which inspired a subsequent 2010 tour. Johnny began working with several new clients in 2010, including multi- platinum superstar JaySean. Selling over 5 million singles with his US debut project, JaySean launched onto the charts with his first single, “Down”, which quickly hit number one and stayed hot on the charts for 40 weeks. Johnny also began working with American Idol contestant David Archuleta, as he released his sophomore album on Jive Records, “The Other Side of Down”, and is looking forward to continued success in the coming months. Aaron Carter has also come back to the WEG family, and is planning on launching new music in early 2011. Another new addition to Johnny’s roster is the hit South African duo Locnville. After experiences incredible success in the UK, Johnny is excited to help Locnville debut in the US in 2011.
Wright Entertainment Group has partnered with Creative Management Group to form Wright-Crear Management, a company that manages the career of Adrienne Bailon (Island Def Jam) and Ciara (Jive). WCM has also made waves in the world of television as executive producers of Nick Carter’s reality show on the E! Network, “House of Carters”.
P. Diddy has called on Johnny several times for his experience and expertise, initially on MTV’s “Making the Band 3” and then on MTV’s series “Starmaker”. After three seasons on MTV as the 1 rated show in its time slot for ages 14-34, MtB3’s “Danity Kane” released their self-titled debut album to a legion of anxious fans. The album launched on the Billboard charts at 1 and quickly sold 1 million albums within three months of its release. Now, Johnny is back working with Aubrey O’Day, from the double plat group Danity Kane, as she relaunches her music career and works with Oxygen to create “The Aubrey O’Day Show”, which will premiere on the channel in Spring 2011.
Johnny has established himself not only on-screen but off screen as well in both film and television. On the big screen, Johnny leant his talents as executive producer for the Paramount / MTV film starring Britney Spears, “Crossroads”, as well as the Miramax film, “On The Line”. He’s also produced and appeared on NBC’s “Fame”, and multiple HBO concert specials.
Always looking for ways to expand his creativity, Johnny and his partner, Kenneth Crear, have recently formed a joint-venture with LiveNation called “PopNation”. PopNation has partnered with Jive Records to launch a new supergroup called “One Call”. Recently opening for Britney Spears on her North American tour, One Call debuted their first single (“BlackLight”, which they wrote and produced themselves) on E! in October 2010, with an amazing response. Johnny Wright lives in Orlando, Florida, where he continues to focus on faith and family and to build on an already remarkably successful career.
